
Paul Barford

Paul Barford is a professor of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he is a member of the networking group and the founder and director of the Wisconsin Advanced Internet Laboratory. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Boston University. He was a visiting professor at the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, a visiting fellow at Wolfson College and an EPSRC visiting fellow. He was also a visiting scholar at Wolfson College at University of Oxford. Prof. Barford worked in industry for 8 years prior to his academic career. He has been a consultant to companies and frequently gives talks and seminars on computer networking and security issues. He was the founder and CEO of Nemean Networks LLC., which developed network intrusion detection technology. Nemean was acquired by Qualys Inc. where he served as Chief Scientist. Prof. Barford was also co-founder and Chief Scientist of Mdotlabs LLC., which developed fraud detection services for on-line advertising. Mdot was acquired by comScore Inc. where he served as Chief Scientist. Prof. Barford’s research interests are in computer networking and communications with a focus on measurement and analysis of Internet data, protocols and topological structure. He also investigates Internet security including detection and identification of fraud, traffic anomalies, malicious attacks and intrusions. His research activities have been supported by the NSF, DHS, ARO, Cisco, and Intel among others. Prof. Barford has served on numerous government panels. He has also served on executive, organizing and technical program committees of many different networking and IT security workshops and conferences.

Kevin Limonier

Kevin Limonier is a lecturer in Slavic studies at the French Institute of Geopolitics (Paris 8 University). He is also deputy director of the GEODE center and scientific director of the observatory of the Russian-speaking infosphere, a research structure dedicated to the analysis of post-Soviet digital spaces. He is a lecturer in several courses on cybernetic issues (Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan … etc.) and was for several years a lecturer at the Russian State University of Humanities (RGGU, Moscow). His research focuses on the development of new methods of mapping cyberspace, especially in the post-Soviet context. He is a specialist of the Russian-speaking Internet (Ru.net : geopolitics of Russian-speaking cyberspace, ed. L’Inventaire, coll. ” les carnets de l’Observatoire “, Paris, 2018) and of territorial innovation policies in the USSR and in contemporary Russia (L’Archipel des savants : histoire des anciennes villes d’élite du complexe scientifique soviétique, ed. B2, Paris, 2017).

Kavé Salamatian

Kavé Salamatian has been a university professor at the University of Savoie since September 2009. His main area of expertise is Internet measurement. He has carried out active research in the field of computer security where his expertise is internationally recognized. He holds a doctorate in computer science, an MBA in business strategy, an MSc in telecommunications and an engineering degree. Since 2011, he has held a visiting professorship at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is developing multidisciplinary research on cyberstrategy, and more generally on Internet sciences. He is the author of more than 150 frequently cited scientific articles.

Prof. Serge Fdida

Serge Fdida is a Professor with Sorbonne Université (formally with UPMC) since 1995. His research interests are related to the future internet technology and architecture. He has been leading many research projects in Future Networking in France and Europe, notably pioneering the European activity on federated Internet testbeds. He is currently leading the Equipex FIT, a large-scale testbed on the Future Internet of Things. Serge Fdida has published numerous scientific papers, in addition to several patents and one rfc. He is a Distinguished ACM Member and an IEEE Senior member. He was one of the founders of the ACM Conext conference, general chair of ACM Mobicom 2015 and IEEE Infocom 2019. Serge Fdida has also developed a strong experience related to innovation and industry transfer, – he was the co-founder of the Qosmos company, – one of the active contributors to the creation of the Cap Digital cluster in Paris, and currently the President of the EIT Health French community. He held various community and management responsibilities in various organizations including Sorbonne Université and CNRS. Serge Fdida is Vice President for International Development of Sorbonne University.
