Pantelis Angelidis

Pantelis Angelidis is a Prof. on Bioinformatics & Digital Health in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece since 2008. He is a Telecommunication & Computer Engineer by education. He has worked on Technology for Health projects in Europe, US and Africa for the past 25 years. He has been involved in several national, European and international projects. He has published over 120 papers in international journals, conferences and book chapters. He is the founder of Vidavo (http://www.vidavo.eu/), a Digital Health start-up and Blockachain, a Health (and more) Blockchain start-up (http://www.blockachain.gr/), both in Thessaloniki, Greece. He has patented three telemedicine devices and one data processing algorithm. He was visiting professor at MIT Media Lab in 2009-10 andangelidis-pantelis.jpg again in 2015-16. He is a visiting lecturer at UB Medical School, Barcelona and Kingston Un, UK. He is a Marshall Memorial fellow and an alumni of the Bodosaki foundation. He is active in turning research results into innovative products focusing on technologies for preventive health, personalized medicine and active ageing.

I received my M.Sc. degree in 1994 and Dr.Sc. in 2006 from University of Oulu. I have worked as a researcher and a project manager in several projects related to radio channel modelling, ultra wideband system (UWB) and medical ICT research. Currently my position is University Researcher. I am also Adjunct Professor (Docent). My Docentship relates to Wireless Body Area Networks. I have 250+ International Journal and Conference papers. My H-index is 34, i10-index 112 and publications are cited 5654 times according to Google Scholar (12.12.2025). I was the General Chair of Bodynets 2018 conference held in Oulu on Oct. 2-3, 2018. I am belonging to the Editorial Board of Annals of Telecommunications and being an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and Frontiers in Communcations and Networks – Non-Conventional Communications and Networks section. I am also Co-Chair of the International Steering Committee of the IEEE International Symposium on Medical Information and Communications Technology (ISMICT) and Steering Committee Member of EAI Body Area Networks (Bodynets) conference series.

Joyce Mwangama

Joyce Mwangama completed her BSc Eng. and MSc Eng. at the University of Cape Town in 2008 and 2011 respectively. She is currently working towards her PhD in Electrical Engineering in the Centre for Broadband Networks at the same institution. She is also currently a Lecturer within the electrical engineering department at UCT. Her research interests include Future Internet Technologies, 4G/5G Mobile Network Architectures and Services, Software Defined Networks and Network Virtualization, Smart Cities Applications, Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine communications.
