Bamba Gueye

Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba GUEYE

Since 2010, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba GUEYE is university lecturer and researcher at Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD). In 2006, he received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University Pierre et Marie Curie – Sorbonne Universités, Paris, France. Between 2007 and 2010, he was Research Assistant (PostDoc position) at the Université de Liège (Belgium), Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. He was a Visiting Scientist at UQÀM (Montréal, Canada) during the 2011/12 academic year, the head of Computer Science Laboratory between 2014 and 2021, general chair of IEEE MNE3SD 2022, and involved in several TCP journals and conferences. He is currently full professor with Université Cheikh Anta Diop, the head of Computer Science department, and the president of ASCII organization. His research interests are in Internet measurements, measurement-based geolocation, and Wireless Sensors Networks (WSN), with recent focus on green cloud computing and network virtualization. In WSN, he promotes Sensor-based epidemiology detection. Besides, improving quality life in rural area has been taking a major role in our research -such as Pastoral mobility, livestock transhumance in Sahel, management of water point by using Internet of things.

Assane Gueye

Prof. Assane Gueye is an Associate Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University Africa. He is co-Director CyLab-Africa and the Upanzi Digital Public Goods Network. Assane holds a Guest Researcher position with the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). He previously was a faculty member at University Alioune Diop of Bambey, Senegal. Assane completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley in 2011. He received a master’s degree in Communication Systems Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. His research focuses on (1) performance evaluation and security communication systems, and (2) information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D). Assane is a Fellow of the Next Einstein Forum (2016), a fellow of the European Alliance for Innovation inaugural Class (2019), and a member of the Science Advisory Committee of the Future Africa Research Leadership Fellowship. He received (2022) CMU’s College of Engineering Dean’s Early Career Fellowship.

Lecturer in the Computer Science Department of the University of Cape Town (UCT). Member of UCT’s ICT4D Center, collaborating particularly within the Net4D research group.Research area: My research focuses on performance of Internet systems in low-resource contexts, with emphasis on (1) Design of logical topologies for high performance, such as in Research and Education Networks (NRENs) and in Community Networks (including studying the impact of interconnection/routing strategies and middle-boxes on end-to-end performance); (2) Data-driven network performance engineering using Machine Learning and Software Defined Networking; (3) User-centric QoS/QoE measurements; (4) Internet universality in Africa and other developing regions, particularly with respect to ‘constrained access’ and various forms of Internet traffic manipulation and censorship; and (5) Exploring the intersection bet ween internet performance and security, privacy and censorship.

Farouk Kamoun

Farouk Kamoun holds an engineering degree from Ecole Supérieure d’ Electricité (SupElec), France and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, where he participated in the ARPANET project (precursor of the Internet) and conducted his research on the design of large computer communication networks. He is currently professor emeritus at ENSI and member of the CRISTAL research laboratory. His areas of research and interest include Intelligent Transportation, Internet of Things, and Blockchain. He is author or co-author of more than two hundred publications in scientific journals and conferences.

Farouk Kamoun has previously served as head of the IT department at FST, CEO of the National Center for Informatics, (CNI) responsible for the promotion of IT in Tunisia and the development of IT applications for the Tunisian Administration. He also served as director of the National School of Computer Science (ENSI) and president of the board and director of Sesame University.

He is also an international expert on policy and strategy in the ICT, education, digital governance, and Science, Technology and Innovation sectors.

He a senior member of IEEE. He served as president of the Tunisian Internet Governance Forum. He is co-founder and president of the African Foundation for Digital Governance for Inclusive Development (Aegid-F), the Tunisian Association for Research and Innovation in Networks (TRINET), and co-founder and vice-president of the Internet of Things cluster “IoT Tunisia”.

Maïssa Mbaye completed his university studies from 2000 to 2004 with a DEUG (Applied Mathematics and Computer Science), Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Master’s degree in Computer Science at Gaston Berger University in St-Louis. After the Master studies in Computer Engineering and ICT (2ITIC), he went to do the Master in Distributed Systems, Networks and Parallelism at the University of Bordeaux 1 (2005-2006). In 2009, he obtained his doctorate from Bordeaux 1 University in the Bordeaux Computer Science Research Laboratory (LaBRI). Between 2009 and 2011, he then worked on the ANR Diaforus project (DIstributed Applications and Functions Over Redundant Unattended Sensors) as a Post Doctoral Research Engineer. Since February 2011, Mr. Mbaye has been a research professor at Gaston Berger University in St-Louis and a member of LANI (Laboratory for Digital and Computer Analysis). In 2017, he reached the masterful rank with his registration on the list of aptitude for the functions of CAMES Lecturer (Pr. Assimilé in Senegal). He teaches Computer Science and his main research topics include Autonomic Networking, Knowledge Plane, Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things and Security.

Prof. Serge Fdida

Serge Fdida is a Professor with Sorbonne Université (formally with UPMC) since 1995. His research interests are related to the future internet technology and architecture. He has been leading many research projects in Future Networking in France and Europe, notably pioneering the European activity on federated Internet testbeds. He is currently leading the Equipex FIT, a large-scale testbed on the Future Internet of Things. Serge Fdida has published numerous scientific papers, in addition to several patents and one rfc. He is a Distinguished ACM Member and an IEEE Senior member. He was one of the founders of the ACM Conext conference, general chair of ACM Mobicom 2015 and IEEE Infocom 2019. Serge Fdida has also developed a strong experience related to innovation and industry transfer, – he was the co-founder of the Qosmos company, – one of the active contributors to the creation of the Cap Digital cluster in Paris, and currently the President of the EIT Health French community. He held various community and management responsibilities in various organizations including Sorbonne Université and CNRS. Serge Fdida is Vice President for International Development of Sorbonne University.
