David is currently the ETSI Director of New Technologies (NET), which involves tracking the latest ICT technology and business trends as well as all relevant research initiatives in order to identify appropriate standards needs and future opportunities for ETSI. In addition, he works on outreach initiatives towards the research and innovation communities, both in Europe and globally, as well as engaging with key European research programs such as Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe. David has more than 25 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector, which includes 20 years of experience in ICT standardization.
Mikko Uusitalo

Mikko Uusitalo is Head of Research Department Wireless Advanced Technologies at Nokia Bell Labs Finland. Mikko is leading the European 6G Flagship Hexa-X. He obtained a M.Sc. (Eng.) and Dr.Tech. in 1993 and 1997 and a B.Sc. (Economics) in 2003, all from predecessors of Aalto University. Mikko has been at Nokia since 2000 with various roles, including Principal Researcher and Head of International Cooperation at Nokia Research. Mikko is a founding member of the CELTIC EUREKA and WWRF.
Douglas Castor

Doug Castor has more than 25 years of experience in wireless system innovation, analysis, design and implementation. Since joining InterDigital in 2000, he has been developing and delivering next generation technology for the mobile wireless industry. His work has been incorporated into 3G (WCDMA and HSPA), 4G (LTE Advanced), and his recent research is used for 5G (NR) and 6G system development. Doug has directed departments as large as 40 employees within InterDigital’s Research and Innovation organization where he has both administrative and technical planning responsibilities. He is currently directing a development team aiming to bring gigabit data rates, extreme low latency and ultra low power to next generation mobile devices. Key technologies of interest to Doug include millimeter wave (mmWave) and terahertz frequencies applied to small cell access and backhaul, and multi-access edge computing. Doug’s work has resulted in demonstrating InterDigital’s EdgeHaul platform – the world’s first WiGig-based mmWave mesh backhaul system that can wirelessly transport multi-gigabit-per-second data to small cells. He is the inventor of over 25 granted US patents with many additional patent applications pending. Doug also has prior experience working for Lockheed Martin in satellite communications systems where he developed wireless performance analysis software and validated system designs prior to launch.
Alain Mourad

Dr Alain Mourad has 20+ years of experience in wireless industrial R&D. He is currently a Senior Director at InterDigital and the Head of Future Wireless Europe Lab in London (UK) leading research on 5G evolution towards 6G. Prior to InterDigital, Alain was a Principal Standards Engineer at Samsung Electronics R&D (UK) and previously a Senior Engineer at Mitsubishi Electric R&D Centre Europe (France). Throughout his career, Alain has been active in the research and standardization of wireless systems (3GPP, IEEE802, DVB, ATSC, ETSI, IETF). Alain is a prolific inventor with over 50 issued patents and several additional patent applications. He received Samsung Electronics Inventor of the Year Award in 2012 and 2013, InterDigital Innovation Award in 2016, 2018 and 2020, the 2018 Global Telecoms Award “Highly Commended” for “Advancing the road to 5G”, and the 2021 CSI Award “Highly Commended” for “Best 5G technology or service”.
Serge Fdida

Serge Fdida is a Professor with Sorbonne Université (formally with UPMC) since 1995. His research interests are related to the future internet technology and architecture. He has been leading many research projects in Future Networking in France and Europe, notably pioneering the European activity on federated Internet testbeds. He is currently leading the Equipex FIT, a large-scale testbed on the Future Internet of Things. Serge Fdida has published numerous scientific papers, in addition to several patents and one rfc. He is a Distinguished ACM Member and an IEEE Senior member. He was one of the founders of the ACM Conext conference, general chair of ACM Mobicom 2015 and IEEE Infocom 2019. Serge Fdida has also developed a strong experience related to innovation and industry transfer, – he was the co-founder of the Qosmos company, – one of the active contributors to the creation of the Cap Digital cluster in Paris, and currently the President of the EIT Health French community. He held various community and management responsibilities in various organizations including Sorbonne Université and CNRS. Serge Fdida is Vice President for International Development of Sorbonne University.
